Got my Panel on the road today (New Pics)
After spending the winter rebuilding the 230 I6, it's finally going. I had been going nuts chasing down a back-firing problem for the last little while. I had tried everything I could think of at least twice, and as I was adjusting the valves EXACTLY like the book said (following the firing order) I realized I had #2 & 4 plug wires reversed. Switched them around and now it's running like a top. I put about 50 miles on it today, and it never missed a beat. If the weather is nice tomorrow, I'll get it cleaned up and post some pics.

A 230 in a 250 block. I know, but that's what I had to work with.

One more. See the second exhaust dump? Whoever did this did a good job, but it dumps directly onto the clutch bellcrank. I guess he musta had an automatic trans.

I think this is a dealer-added security device. It is a key switch that activated some kind of alarm. The little black box was gone when I got her, but every door and the hood has little like dome-light switches and all the wires from these run to where the thing was mounted, on the D/S fender, up near the firewall.

Other side. Disregard cheesy toyota seats and cheesier $10 autozone seat covers. Their days are numbered.

That panel looks great. Someday I think there will be one at my place too if I have my way.

Maannnnn... that is an awsome panel truck.
On the stripe on the side, what is the immage on the back behind the rear wheel? Interesting how the stock horn button is on the camaro steering wheel, did you do that? Does it work? That is an awsome wagon, I am really starting to like the long roofs...both with and without windows. For a quick and dirt cheap improvement, sand that rusty front bumper and paint it white. |

Thanks, guys. She still needs an awful lot of work, but it's coming together. My immediate goal was to get a good running engine, so I can drive her around some this summer. I plan on doing a frame-off, but not 'till probably winter after next. Lots of parts shopping. I want to have most of what I need before hand.
beagle- I got that ash tray drink holder from Athey's, through the board here. I love it. Easy install, except go easy with the rubbing compound on the ashtray face. I rubbed the color clean off mine before I knew it. Longhornman- I'd like to say that image is some ultra-custom little graphic, but sadly that stripe is a decal, and what you are seeing is where gas has overflowed and ate it away. And the paint. Right down to the primer. And no, my horn button don't work. There is a thin bead of black silicone holding it on. I didn't know what the steering was off of, I pulled it off a '69 1 ton in a boneyard. I needed one-any one-quick and that was the first one I found.
