Outer grill shell swap - rivets?

For anyone that has done a shell swap or others with ideas, what did you use to attach the supports on the sides so that it would bolt up to the fenders. The factory rivets look like solid rivets, I have "pop" rivets, but was wondering if there is any way to reattach the brackets with a simple rivet that will look like factory and not have a hole in the face like blind pop rivets do.

I've been using the threaded style rivet for all my cars. From the top, it looks like a factory rivet but on the bottom, it has a threaded shaft and uses a small nut.

The only place I know of that has them is Lutty's Chevrolet warehouse but I'm sure there are many others, somewhere... They are $6.00 for 15 rivets. (I think) Part number 7964.

I used something that sounds like what bobs409 used. Mine were airplane surplus fasteners.

I usually just use pop rivets and paint them flat black. Some of the vendors carry grill installation kits that have the solid pop rivet in them.

I have also turned down small stainless bolts so they look like rivets.

in my area there's alot of fastener stores and even some hardeware stores carry aluminum rivets. check out the local yellow padges for stores like that.
i think they use them alot in screen enclosures like by the swimming pools
