obtaining title in Texas
Hey guys, I did a lot of work over the past couple of weeks on my 69 panel. I have decided to get it registered, etc. BUT have lost all the paperwork for the vehicle. I bought it in Delaware, but the guy who sold it to me never transferred it into his name... So, I'm stuck.. do I use the Texas rebuilt form and try to get title, registration that way.. or do I do a mechanix lien? Any help on the easiest way would be appreciated. Thanks

It is going to be a PITA, whichever way you go. Whatever you decide, you really want to know what is needed ahead of time and to what you will have to attest to. You can find most of the info at the TxDOT website, but it may not hurt to call and ask some questions. I would recommend calling anonymously in case you don't like the answers and decide to take another route.
I just got my truck registered here and got a title in my name. My new problem is that the VIN on the title does not match the VIN on the truck (only slightly off, someone probably had trouble reading my Dad's handwriting). I am still mulling over when to buy that fight.
