I started removing the rusty parts of my K20 and this is all I was left with. I left the radiator in it and put the battery on top the air cleaner so I can still drive it and move it around. I have to put one foot on a frame rail and the other on the gas/brake pedal to drive. People look at me like I'm a little strange

I don't actually sit, I just kind of squat down and stand on the framerail with one foot and use the other foot for the gas, and hold on tight to the steering wheel. Maybe I need a pic of me driving, that would look funny!

Here is the "new" body. It's an '89 that I'm going to put on my '79 frame, and I'm also swapping in the TBI 350 and 700R4 also.

Yep, I was having mixed emotions about the swap, and I REALLY like the '79 body style (grille, headlight trim). But, by switching to my '89 I will have far less rust, A/C, tilt, cruise, etc... a lot cheaper than it would be to fix up the old '79. The '79 has a divorced 205 t-case, so if I am thinking about everything correctly, I can just take the body, engine, and transmission from the '89 C1500 frame and set on the '79 K20 frame and just hook everthing back up and the body shouldn't even "know" it was moved. That's the plan anyway...

You will need to move the frame mounts around for sure, possibly make your own. And be careful with that 700r4, make sure you never offroad it in overdrive for sure!

I'd ask the fellas on CK5 what they thought of a truck with that large of tires running OD

I will have to get a LWB bed. The plan for the '89 shortbed is to make a pick-up bed trailer out of it after the cab is off.
