This can't be good-broken shock stud.
I was checking out my shocks today. They are shot, and I got new ones. The right rear bottom is held on with what appears to be a 3/8ths bolt. So my question is, I have 2 front top studs-are they the same?
It's likely that the hole the stud goes through is all wobbled out, if it is should I weld the new stud in?

It is a bolt that goes through there. If the hole is too big from the bolt being loose use a stiff flat washer on the bolt head side (towards the outside of the truck) and tighten it to spec. If it is really bad you can weld the washer to the shock mount plate. A heavy flat washer is about the same thickness as the metal in the shock mount plate.

You need to either repair or replace the mount. It is a grade 8 bolt, and the hole is worn. I would weld and redrill the hole.

Thanks, guys. I guess I got my work cut out for me. I'll have to pull that shock off and study the mount and decide how bad it is. My welder is broke, so I think I'll do this at my friend's in case welding is required. I still don't know if the FRONT TOP bolt (which I have two of) would be the same as the missing BOTTOM REAR bolt.
