stepside rear tire width
Anyone know what is the safe maximum rear tire width to have in a stock stepside. My measurements done about a year ago show a max clearance of approx 9 1/2". It's been a long time so I'm wondering if I didn't measure right. This seems real tight. My bed is all in pieces now so I can't re-measure at this time.

Is your truck lowered?
I think most people would say it depends on three things: (1) the backspacing of your rim and (2) The width of your rim and (3) How low your truck is. Other factors include how much you want the tire to stick out of the side of the truck in the case that it's lifted or stock height. I think the stepsides can handle at least backspacing of 4.5, possibly even 5. That's with a 8" rim, lowered. Other members might be running a slightly different configuration.
