Help! Front axle problem - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Ok, I've got a problem with my '72 Blazer. The passenger side wheel has a clunk to it when you push on it by hand and at about 35mph and 60mph the whole front of the truck tracks from side to side and feels like the wheel is going to fall off. I replaced the front wheel bearings on both sides, the spindle on the passenger side, swapped front and rear wheels on the passenger side, tie rod ends, ball joints all look fine and feel good. It feels like a loose wheel but everything is tight. Anyone have any ideas what could be going on? I need my truck back since it's my daily driver and it's been broken since Monday and everyday after classes I've worked on it tryin to figure this out. Thanks for any help.

Did you check the u-bolts and spring mounts? I had a 72 Blazer years ago that the rivits that mounted the spring mount to the frame were broke off, couldn't tell by looking at it, but when we jacked it up by the frame, the mount pulled away. Just a thought...good luck

yeah all that stuff is fine, it is more pronounced when turning right and going stragiht down the road. When you turn left it isn't there.

Check the tie rod ends. Jack it up on one side with the passenger side wheel off the ground and have someone rock the wheel from side to side while you look it over underneath.

Everything is tight, I took it down to the knuckle, inspected everything, it all checked out. All joints are tight, bolts and nuts are tight, springs are good, perches are fine, you name it, I've checked it and everything is tight and good. I can't find any cracks, no bad bearings, nothing gets hot in the hub. I'm stumped and I've got a lot of my friends stumped too.
