is this rare at all?

i have an 82 GMC Sierra Classic 1500, Factory air, tilt, cruise, ps, pdl. it also has the 4 headlight front end, which most of the local chevy truck guys say is kinda odd. is this less common setup, or just par for the course? oh it also was the electronic spark control (ESC) badges on it.
i can post the option tag if someone is curious.
thanks
later

Even an old ford guy would tell you that 4 headlights on a GMC is the norm. All the other options are also pretty much run of the mill stuff. With a few exceptions, most GMC trucks had four headlights and chevy normally ran just two untill the 1988 style truck hit the scene.

My dad has an 84 1/2 ton 4wd chevy with 4 lights, My uncle has an 87 1/2 ton 4wd chevy------2 headlights, like I said some exceptions, depends on model. The older trucks followed that headlight theory pretty close though.

i think the 81+ scotsdales mostly had 2 headlights even into the 91 burbs but the silverado and better packages went with 4 headlights...

I thought custom deluxe was "any way you want it". Co-worker had an ex-police K30 Custom Deluxe. Completely base model truck, except for the vinyl bucket seats.

I often use this brochures link when a question arises about OE equipment & options.

Yes you could get the 4 headlights as an option

You could order just about any option you wanted with a few exceptions.
I ordered a Scottsdale because I didn't want carpet or power windows and locks, but I have just about every other option you could get on the Silverado including 4 headlights and deluxe cloth seats.

4 headlight was standard on the Silverado from 81-91. 2 headlight was standard on all other trim packages. 4 headlight were optional for all other packages except for a base trim truck and this being GM, I wouldn't doubt there are not some of them out there.

ok a curiosity of mine... are the mounts the same for say the dual and single headlight setups for a given year? for example if i wanted to go w/ the dual headlight on my 91 burb or even the single long lighting from a 92, would the mounts match up?
a second curiosity has anyone tried to setup a 82-91 with the grill/etc from a 73-80? (something like pic below)

Core supports are specific to headlight versions.
To put a 73-80 on a 81-91, you need the complete front clip.

notice the leading edge of the hood doesnt match up with the grille trim. on a regular 73-80 core support, it follows the line of the leading edge of the hood.

doing this would also mean get a hood from a smiliar year truck since they have the protruded front...

but the question i was wondering was would it be easy and possible to switch the scotsdale single headlight setup to the silverado dual headlight setup say both from 91 burbs??? or did they keep the mounts specific based on the headlights only?

As I said above the core support is specific to the headlight versions. If you want to go from singe to dual headlights you have to swap core supports.

and in turn you would have to remove the cowl panel, and 73-80 fenders to get the lines to match. whole front clip... and the wiper linkage, since 81+ protrude through the cowl panel, and the 73-80 just hide behind the back of the hood.
