Mandrel bent pipes

Does anyone know of a supplier for complete mandrel bent exhaust pipes for our trucks? I want a new mandrel bent system for my 1971 Chevrolet half ton Cheyenne with big block 402 with factory monifolds with the exhaust exiting in the factory location. Has anyone ever heard of a muffler shop that will do mandrel bending or are these an order only item? I don't need anything big or anything. Two and a half inch head pipes and two inch tail pipes is what it came with. I might consider two and a half inch tail pipes...

Any leads?

Thank you.

You shd have no problem getting mandrel bends from an exhaust shop without having to go too far. All of the custom shops (exhaust) in my city have the machine to do it. I had my system custom bent 2 1/2" dia. and requested aluminized steel pipe, I would have prefered the stainless but it was roughly twice as much $. Doug

LMC Truck sells mandrel bent oem-style exhaust systems (dual V8, single I6) with mufflers. In the color pages. I've been trying to find out who makes those systems so I can look into buying them from the source or another distributor, especially if I can get them cheaper without the mufflers. I'm still stuck on going with a single V* system, though.

If you lived in the rust belt I'll bet you'd find someone with a mandrel bender.

They are made here in Minnesota, out by where da-burb lives. I think the box said "hearthrob" or "heartbeat" or something like that.

I purchased their system for my truck from LMC. It was drop shipped to my door and fit my truck like a glove.

I don't know why everybody gives LMC such a hard time. EVERY order I've made there was complete and on time. (I do NOT work for them or am associated to them in any way).

JC Whittney has a set too. I believe they come w/out mufflers. I remember I heard once that they are the same as LMC. I don't know how they fit, I never used them but I am thinking about it too. They are dual, 2.5'' diameter and exit on stock location. It ssaid in their catalog that it only fit with stock manifold. I hope this help.

Because I Worked Pt For A Muffler Shop 2000-03, I Can Tell
You Most Shop Benders Are "Not" Mandrel Benders, Mandrel
Benders Leave No Drag Marks On The Bends, The Local Shop
Here Can Get Them For Any Vehicle, For A Price, They Charge
You $150 And Bend Up The Whole Truck In 1 & 7/8 Pipe, Then
They Send That To The Distributer, Who Bends It In The Size
That You Want And Sends It Back, Last I Heard It Was Run'n
In The $350-$450 Range, So That's Like $500-$600 Total, And
Like Above, That Is Aluminized, Not Ss, It Would Be Closer
To A Grand For SS, That Is Why Mine Is Just Gonna Be Std.
Bent Pipes, Aluminized, With SS Mufflers And Tips, Cya

I used to make mandrel bends at work. Too bad they closed the shop a couple years ago.

That said, most late-model cars & trucks now have 409SS, mandrel-bent exhausts. If you're so inclined, you could pull a couple exhausts out of the salvage yard. Mine was made of of a few obsolete '04 Durango tailpipes.
