Question Temperature guage???

I replaced the sending unit today on the block.
Guage still reads past max, all the way right. My last two trucks had aftermarket guages under the dash. Do these guages go out easily? Is there a fuse? What do you guys use for a temperature guage. What do you use to hold the wire onto the sending unit? For now I am using alligator clips. Thanks for any input or advice.

Your wire is grounding out somewhere. Follow that green wire and see if it is melted on a manifold or pinched somewhere.

I'm having the same/similar problem. Temp guage starts out cold and maxs out as the engine warms up but the engine gives no indication it is running hot. What gives?

Could mine be stuck. It is always on the right side whether or not the ignition is on. I should have added in my first post that when I got the truck a couple of months ago, the temp needle was already in that position and the green wire was just dangling next to the engine with a burnt or rotted off clip or whatever it had to connect to the sending unit. The green wire feels stiff for its size but the conductor doesn't look bad after peeling back the green insulator.

Have you been able to test the gauge in any other way? Perhaps the gauge is the problem and not the sending unit? rico
