I think I made progress
I had planned on priming some parts today, but mothernature made it WAY to damp. So I decided to tear apart a part door for a pathc, then I decided to start changing out the doors on the 70 with some nice new/old already fixed doors. Put in new bushings and hinge pins while I had it apart. It was kind of nice, since they are already white it gave me a view of what it will look like when I repaint it ( some decade
![]() Question- Are all the replacement hinge pins extra long? I had gotten mine from Chevy Duty. They had the same part number for the 70 and the 82. When I did the 82 a few months ago they were not too long for the 82 doors. Today though they were around an Inch too long, so I cut them off once I had them in the 70's hinge. I wasn't sure if it would matter with the extra length or not, but thought it would be better to have them shorter. I did learn (well relearn) that trying to hang a door by yourself is a real pain in the backside (unless you got one of those toor jack things). I got it close, but I'll do a better alignment/adjustment when I have extra hands. Passenger side next time. Thanks for listening.

Billy G....I already started the external tank. I just haven't got around to taking out the old one. Probably when I run it ourt of gas, I'll do the changeover. Oh and yes, I do like the seats. VERY comfortable.

Looks like some good Progress.
When I rebuilt my hinges for the 67 I used a universal kit for 60's to 91 old body style trucks and cars. The pins were about a 1" too long also so I cut the extra off and beaned about 1/16" over.

Bill, what's involved with putting new bushings and pins in the hinges?
I have some extras around and was thinking about reuilding them for some unknown future project. Thanks. |

P.F. is Pigeon Forge, TN. Annual GMC/Chevy truck Nationals.
Yeah some day it'll get up there meathead. This will probably be the last show for me for a couple years because of the daugther at this smart-kid school. ScottH there easy to rebuild. I haven't done any on our style truck with the doors on, but all you doo is drive the pin out, yank out the old bushings if they are even there, slide the hinge halfs together and tap in the new pin. I think the make a tool for pushing oyut the pins, I just never used one. Definitely a buddy system job though to get the door to hang right afterwords. BillyG...yeah you can see the blazer tank in some of the pictures

How hard was it to put that seat in? What mounts did you use? I like the way that looks alot. And you still have enough room for the tank behind the seat?
