Those aren't easy to tell. It's somewhere between '68 and '72.

Lot of those around here, farmer's wheat trucks. Some of them only come out of the shed for harvest, and then for planting in the fall. Every once in a while there'll be a nice clean one come up for sale at a farm auction. I've been watching for a good clean 1 1/2 or 2 ton with a dump bed myself.

that is a 69 or 70 it has the bowtie on hood, 68 ones have slanted hood minus bowtie,
C40-80 are common here also, all are in excellent rust free shape except for two that i know of that are absolutely beat up and rusted out due to year round use, all the farmers in IL have one of them and they only use them for 2 months of the year and park them in sheds rest of year sheltered. most are grain trucks, and use for either gravel pits like here or as tree trucks or as grain trucks, or scrap metal hauling rigs, see them all the time. see one cruising down the street here earlier loaded down with trees, and alot of them !! was a red one that was for sale for 1900 i think about three years ago i was gonna buy, thats frickin dirt ass cheap for a clean as hell in salt belt 2 ton dump truck! a steal..... |

My '72 dump has a bowtie on the hood. Big trucks don't follow the same rules as the "light" ones. My '72 also has a small back window.

Every 40-60 series truck i have ever seen has a small back window, from about '60-'87 when they stopped following the pickup lines. I dunno if you could get a big back window in one, or it may be pretty rare....

I agree with yellow72. I've never seen one with a big back window. On 99% of these trucks you cant see out the back window anyway.
Oh yeah,,,,,back to the original ????,,,,,,I don't know what year it is either but if someone has an old Chilton's manual it might be in there,,,,,,they had the pictures of grills in them for just this purpose.
