What did you get done?
Yeah it's still early on Sunday, but this is my only chance to post today. I will be at the dowtown at the Goerge R. Brown convention center all day today for the final round of the Lonestar Regional volleyball tournament.
My daughters team had an awesome day yesterday and won every match they played. That put them in the gold bracket today. If they can just hang in there and finish 3rd or better they qualify to play at the Junior Olympic nationals in Salt Lake City. ![]() About the only thing truck related I have done is wash and detail both our drivers. Boring job, but it has to be done. What did you get done?

Friday night, i came home from work and started cleaning up my 95 Grand Am back together, put a few finishing touches on it before i set it out for sale. set it out about 7pm. i woke up yesterday morning to hear the doorbell. i look out, and there's a minivan sitting at the end of the driveway next to the Grand Am. so i throw on some clothes, grab the keys, and head for the door. they look the car over real well, and ask to take it for a test drive. we go for a short drive (since the car has no plates or insurance) and then get down to business talking about a price. they offer $700, from my $1500 asking price i thought that was a little low. managed to talk them up to $900, and i let it go for that. considering i had just under $400 in the car, and i'm tired of looking at it, i dont think i did too bad. and since it sat out there just over 12 hours, i dont have to hear *****ing about the dead spots in the grass.
![]() went to my buddy's house and helped him and his cousin strip out the new derby truck. a '66 Ford F250. its a little rough around the edges, but overall a solid truck. he scored it no motor/no trans for $150. we'll put a small block Chevy and a TH350 in it and call it good. after stripping the truck, decided to go to the races. found out that there has been a rule change, and street stocks now allow pickups, where only mini stocks did before. got some wheels turning.... ![]() and im just sitting here watching the race now. i might go outside in a little bit and push the 86 out of the garage and start cleaning up. |

I cleaned the 74 after leaving work yesterday & stopped by the Dust-Off.
Today, I went back out to Dust-Off w/my old buddy that couldn't go yesterday. Less there today than there was yesterday. Now it's furniture assembly time (a desk for the young one). I hope to get some time to work on my 74's bucket seat frame (I'm making a frame similar to the 67-8 'buddy' buckets).

I had some friends come up from Austin, and we went to the Pate Swap meet out at TMS Saturday morning. There were loads of overpriced junk out there. Not much interesting. I almost picked up a white 86 GMC SWB, but teh dude was stuck on $2500. A little rich for that truck. There was an 87 with a not so great repaint and partial color change that was $5K. Waaaaay to much. We went home empty handed. The bright spot was seeing a set of slotted mags in 17" sizes. I almost bought a set, but cooler heads prevailed. worked... mostly....
truck related? hmmmm Tues the passenger side exhaust fell off the truck.. the flat flange part of the collector actually seperated from the pipe.. wasnt rusted just cracked. Went ahead and had new collectors welded on both sides.. sounds soo much better now.. had been leaking for some time and i suppose i just got use to it.. towed it to a trans shop... yep.. it finally gave it up..going to stop by the shop in the morning and see how much its going to run. If its too rich for my blood i will have a buddy and his Jeep TJ (350 chevy, th400, 38" swampers) tow my truck home so i can tear it out myself..unfortunately i dont have a concrete driveway to lay on, and would rather not roll around in the dirt. At the moment i would rather have it done even if it cost alittle bit more.. but if worse comes to worse i will do it myself over a week or two time. Unfortunately that leaves 4 working adults with 2 cars... makes things difficult. hopefully tax return will come in soon.. was planning on using it on a front end rebuilt (tie rods, idler arm, pitman arm, ball joints, and control arm bushings). Oh well... we shall see what another week will bring..

I cleaned the 89 up, and put the dash together, just to find out that I messed up two of the gauges. They are pegged all the time now, DOH!!
Throughout the week I gotta put hinge pins in, new gauges, new pull straps, fix the DS seatbelt (bottom strap doesn't retract) and a new caliper on the front right. Then the 89 is going byebye ASAP

Wow that paint job looks good. Got a Din radio installed, Kenwood CD player. Then I put new bulbs in the dash, now I can see speed from 0-30ish, lol lot brighter. The one on the fuel gauge was out also.

Changed my water tank - - I mean the natural gas fired appliance in my house. It sprung a leak just as we were heading out the door to church yesterday morning. So, not quite how I was planning to spend my Sunday afternoon/evening, but that's the way it goes, I guess...

I wanted to go to Pate this weekend, but decided that 4+ hours each way plus walking around all day was just too much. I feel better hearing that there was not much of interest.
![]() The only thing I did related to the truck this weekend was to drive it. I spent the weekend doing the two other things I am interested in, computers and scooters. I spent Saturday at a computer swapmeet. I didn't buy much, but it was fun looking around and drooling over all of the high end hardware. Sunday was spent on a scooter ride. Scooter as in motor scooter. This was a 60 mile ride open to all types of modern and vintage scooters. We had a good showing of classic Vespas as well as a couple of Allstates and a Lambretta. Just in case anyone is interested in this stuff, you can view the pictures I took here: http://www.slonaker.net/gallery/MC-S...-Ride-05-01-05 Slonaker Last edited by Slonaker; 05-02-2005 at 10:28 AM. |
