need some opinions on cabs - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

well i have found a big window cab that i have been thinking i wanted but now i am thinking i like my small window cab and i can't decide what to do so anybody else got any suggestions the big window cab is rust free and has all glass and doors and automatic steering column and auto pedals, my small window cab needs a rocker repair on passenger side has some light rust in a couple of other spots and has clutch pedal and standard column when it's all put back together it will be stuffing a small blcok with a auto tranny, what should i do?

I think the big window cabs are generally more desirable, and sounds like it may be less work. But if you perfer the lil window, it's your truck so get what you want. If it were me I'd trade out the cabs.

well, changing from a standard to auto column and pulling the clutch pedal isn't a very big job. But you have to aquire the column, that costs a few bucks. If you have rust repair, you have to aquire parts to fix it, that costs a few bucks, you have to fix the rust, or have someone do it for you, few more bucks. Assuming both cabs being of initial equal value, you'll have more money into the small window cab just to get it usable. You have to decide how much you want to invest in your truck, and balance that against which style of cab you prefer. I like the looks of the small window, but I prefer driving a big window, much better visability, therefore safer and less likely to get bent. IMHO Good luck on YOUR descision.

If you lived closer I would trade you my two best cabs for that small window. I like the look of the small window.

yeah for some reason it's starting to grow on me, i like the big window but am just really starting to like the small window, maybe it's cause most everyone leans more towards the big window, heck i don't know what i am gonna do yet....

Personally, I like the small window, it seperates the 67 from anything later. Instant ID. I also like the way it looks.
however, Like said above, the big window IS a little easier to drive, and a 67 with the panoramic window is generally worth more.

Definitely go with the cab with the panoramic window and sell/trade the small window to me! Man I would give my left arm for a '67 sm. window short fleet... I think they look so cool.

Personally I think the little window looks best with a stepside bed, and the big window looks best with a fleetside bed.

if it were a show truck and wouldnt see much road id go small. but for a daily driver id go big

My 67 is a small window.I like the way it looks I did'nt at first but as I work on it more I think it looks cool.

I saw an article on custom classic trucks where the man who designed the 67 cab made the small window that way to give it a "coupe look" of the older cars. After reading that and looking at it I agree.I could really see it. I like either or but have always had a soft spot for the small backwindow. yes it's not as easy to see out of but mine has those "west coast mirrors" for it. They also changed to a blocky front end in 69 because the 67-68 nose was to refined for a truck. Personally, 67-68's are my favorites. If I had the small back window cab I'd keep it.

Is the rear window area at least salvageable to be welded into another cab by someone with s little skill?

thanks for the opinions guys i think i will keep it, i am just really liking it more and more each day and it will not be a daily driver just a weekend cruiser when i am done....

maybe i might just keep it to the side....as my truck will be apart for a while and when it goes back together i may stick em both on to see which one i like better, i'll post it up in the sale section if i decide to sell it though....but it'll be awhile...but you never know i may run across another project...
