Between home repairs, & truck stuff, the old Chev is back on the pavement. That old booger is running a 400turbo (rebuilt at some unknown time), from a freebie parts truck. The old trans works decent, firm shifts, & will still bark some rubber on that 1-2 shift. the stock converter "challenges" the XE268 Comp idling in gear, but not bad enough for the 2 footed stoplite. she runs out good, but would like a little looser converter on the takeoff......should be a little easier on fuel than that 2800 stall TCI that I had on the last one tho (I hope!) I havent had the truck out on the open road yet, but I think she will do ok with the 3.40 gears on a 29" tire.

hey

L i have that same problem. its a real firm one footer or a two footer. some one gave me a 1800 stall converter cause they went with a 3000. will this work on the street fine? i know hardly anything about stall converters

The biggest thing with a "tight " converter,& a lumpy cam,is that you will be a tad doggy off the start......when you get up(2200-2500 rpms) , & that cam really starts " into the powerband", she will rock! I am not into how fast anymore.......need some mileage from the combo

My thoughts for the best "all around deal" ......a slighty loose converter(say 2200-2400 on a streeter). Much more than that, & you are eatin fuel, & makin a mess out of tires( rubber smoke is kewl.......but it is costly) 69L

I thought you put a 6 speed in there last year...what happened?

Nope, old crazy can still handle that 6spd box........the thrust main on that 383 is protesting tho.......! Heck, I have work to do on the old "homestead", & need a ride for the 2nd "BRAT". After 4.000 miles, that Richmond 6 is not hurt.I will let the trans & shifter go for the price of new 5 spd+ shifter (no shipping).

Next c notch and rear bags '02 Chevy Silverado LT ext cab short bed 2WD 5/7 drop on 22's(the family car) 1993 Cherokee work ride/weekend wheeler
