Need recomendations/PICs -- Bed cover
Had some Job changes @ work that are making me nervous. Needless to say a building out back to clear room in the Garage for Ol Duke is not in the cards. So the new Idea for keeping the bed rust free is a Tonneau cover. I see two in LMC, are they worth the money? Any Recomendations out there? and of course anyone with Ideas and Pics puts me in the bonus.
Thanks again guys

I made a cover for my short box 69. I think i had 60$ into it, but quite a bit of labor. I will tell you real quick how I did it. I had some c - channel lightweight steel laying around so i welded a frame that was 1/2" smaller than the inside of the box lip and used flat head carriage bolts to secure 1/2" marine plywood to the c - channel frame. Finally covered it with tonneau cover material from a upholstery shop using some adhesive. Sounds kind of simple but it did require some labor. By far the coolest part about it is you can stand on it, put lawn chairs on it, etc. However, it is a 2 person job to remove.

I have a checkmate and really liked the fit. Once I received it, it only took about 20 min to have it mounted.

Is that the X2000? That lid looks AWESOME. How much did it cost, the site doesn't have prices.

The lid type john shows is great. Kept someone from breaking into my truck and stealing all of my tools out of it (after the smashed my side window out and took everything else).
Honestly, that Gaylord lid looks a lot better than my SnugTop SnugLid. I'll never buy from those SnugTop bastards again. Their idea of "acceptable fiberglass ripples" is a joke. I talked with them for several weeks trying to get reoslution after blowing $1300 on a screwless top and I just ended up selling it with the truck and taking a $1000 hit on it. Here's an example, and I have two more if this isn't enough:

Seriously, I will never buy from SnugTop again. I would always buy Gaylord first.

Here is my Checkmate installed. They come in black or white. I got white because I plan to paint my truck orange.

Great advice and good looking PICs too. Funny another thread started on this same subject, but more on the soft tops the the Fglass. Any problems with the soft ones?

soft ones are not secure (can be cut open), doesn't do any good to lock them, they don't seal as thoroughly as the fiberglass does (fiberglass has a lip over the bed)....the soft ones use either velcro or brackets to attach and require ribs if you want to prevent water from beading up.
I looked at soft ones for a couple months before dropping the loot on a fiberglass unit. It's only a couple hundred more for a fiberglass one. Oh - and you can't paint the soft ones. I think velcro is tacky and I think ribbed soft tops look dumb. I like the sleek streamlined look myself and fiberglass offers it.

Beading up where? on top of the cover or underneith, I am looking to keep the bed mostly dry For as low cost as possible. I know there will be some leakage, there is with my camper now.

phlegm-
I drove from WA to IN in Oct. Snow and rain most of the way. Everything in my bed stayed dry. It comes with enough of a seal to seal all but the front. I am sure you can get more of the seal material from them or a hardware store. In my opinion it seals great.
