Anybody got a nice dark blue dash pad for 81 up at a decent price?

I see these on e-bay all the time. If you do not find the color you want, you can always paint to suit. I have painted the on in my 70' Burb and never have any trouble out of it. Holds up good. I got the paint at advance. But you can get these just about anywhere. Check e-bay out.

Watch what pads you buy. Some are non paintable. They have an oily film on them that cannot be cleaned off well enough for paint to stick. I bought a black one and cleaned it 3 times with acetone before painting. It worked pretty good but there are a few places /i can't get it to stick and will need to try it again. It seems the oily substance keeps seaping out of the rubber.

When you buy these you really do not know what the owner put on them. Armor all ect. Do not know what made yours so oily, acetone always worked for me in the past. In fact I just painted some door panels I won off of e-bay but I wanted black and these were red. They look just like new black door panels. You just have to take your time and put on really light coats. The first coat is just where you barely cover the materal. I put on so light it takes three coats before you could not see any red. Works for me anyway.

try some brake cleaner it will dry up any oil . then prep for paint.
