Question New-Old 67 C20 Owner

My 67 C-20 has a 350 but I don't know its heritage. The number appears to be ME08800. Is it a Chevy block?

Are you asking if it is a Chevrolet motor? or wanting to know what it originally came in?

Just want to know what it is, so I can work on it - the # doesn't seem to match anything Chevy - but I am new at this vintage. If I can get it running right - maybe a 327 would be next.

Post a picture, that will help tons. Or find a picture of a similar picture on the net and post a link.

Dist. is in the back and it's not original; It apperas to have heads cast in Mexico; the block is currently painted black.

M is GM of Mexico in the number designation but the next 4 numbers should be the date of manufacture as in 0105...January 5th. Then there should be a three digit suffix designation. I would check the number again very closely using a wire brush and chalk to highlight the digits and letters.

I sold one from a 72 last week that had a # like that. "Hilljob26" -his dad bought it. Is black -dipstick on Right hand instead of left. Probably what is called a "Targmaster" (crate engine).
