Need Advice On Hei

Please help.

My truck has apparently killed another HEI module. This is the 3rd or 4th time in about a year this has happened. Last time I replaced the cap, rotor, coil, module, and center button in the cap.

The truck is an 84, the ESC has been disconnected and has a non-ESC HEI installed. The ESC plug was not jumpered, simply disconnected. The dizzy module harness was replaced within the past year. The truck has a 350, accel 8.8 wires and accel header plugs.

Is there a chance something related to the power lead to the dizzy is the culprit?

I am getting close to stuffing a rag in the gas tank and lighting it.

Have you been using the recomended heat conducting paste under the module? If not that is more than likely the problem, those modules can't take the heat.

have you checked for maybe a bare spot in the wiring that is grounding out and killing your module??? other than that are you pushing some kind of big stereo that might be serging the system of the truck? good luck!!!!

I had my heads worked on and after the HEI was put back in the truck went only about 100 miles and the HEI went out. Had mecanic put another in and he told me I needed to have a spacer put under the HEI because of the head being taken down. Did not make since to me but no more problems. Go figure.

I want to say its because of the accel stuff your running, I had nothing but problems with that company when I used to use them. I would suggest putting a standerd hei distributor in there and see what happens. Only around $20 from a u-pull junkyard if you already have your own internals.
