Jim,
I went and pulled some rims from a 1 ton chevy van that was pretty modern. The bolt pattern fits up well. I couldn't tell you about the backspacing -- the truck has only travelled about 5 feet since I put them on Brian |

I think that the later trucks used a metruc lug nut that won't work on the older trucks, and the older style lug nuts have a different angle on the seat. I have heard of a company that makes lugs for this set up but I don't have a name or a source. Maybe someone else here knows where to get them or check with a wheel shop in your area. Maybe someone who specializes in taek offs could help.

You might go to a parts store and measure the two different studs to each othe but I think the lugs that will work would be cheaper than buying new studs and changing them out. The lugs are around 2.00 each in my area, I think studs are higher. WE have shop here that customizes new trucks and they seel the new wheels they take off as well as the lugs to use on older trucks, maybe there is a shop like that near you.

i found out what i needed, they will work. here what i found out.
the 63 is a 6 lug 6x5.5 bolt pattern the 95 is a 6 lug 6x5.5 bolt pattern. Yes they will work. The metric part of the 95 would be the wheel studs (14mm) where as the 63 has standard sized 1/2" I believe sized wheel studs. That part is completely irrelevant to the fitting of the wheels thanx for the help i got.

I had access to four wheels from a 2000 Tahoe that had almost brand new rubber on them but I was unable to use them because the center hub's diameter was about a half an inch, or more can't remember right now, to small. You might wanna check that out before jumping in. PanelRodder PS: I understand that the aftermarket wheels for the same truck will work on our vintage because they make the hub bigger. The wheels came off a truck that got twenty's. I'd like to hear how well they work with backspacing and all though. |
