Stock Retro Look
I am going back to the retro pure stock look on my 327 for the Longhorn. Here is the first piece. I am afraid I am already guilty of "over restoration". I could not stand all of the casting runners left on the edges adn some of the sand pockets in the corners so I cleaned them up a tad...LOL!
Anyone know what color the coil mount bracket and choke spring cover were painted on the stock engine or were they bare steel?

Never seen a painted one, the ones I've seen appear to be "natural"

The one I have is stainless but dirty. I just cleaned it up. Some of the really low chromimum stainless steels will rust and I suspect that is what the auto industry used. I can always have it plated zinc in the future. Who has the details on engine component colors or the proper metal colors/tints for a stock engine. Is there a book out there that gives this info for a 100 pt. restoration? If there is no book...then how do the judges know for sure?

I don't know about a book for correct colors on trucks but I have seen restoration books on Chevelles and GTOs, etc. that list many finishes. The coil holders that I have seen were a galvanized looking material.
Good luck - Bob
