What year/type of truck did the seats come out of? Also, did you switch to shoulder harness seat belts?
Looks great!

They did come out of a Dodge Ram, I think 96. I wanted to keep the functionality of the bench seat so that my son, wife, and I can ride around. I am currently getting ready to purchase harnesses for seatbelts for the two bucket seats. The center seat has the original seatbelts built in.

yep, how did you mount yours? i just cut 2 inches out of the two outside front brackets, and drilled new holes. so mine sit pretty high, im thinkin a tilt column will fix that by the way, i got the seatbelts too, and i dont think you need a wiring harness. mine are out ofa 97, and there is just a little senser only on the drivers side to tell if it is buckled. a wire goin in and one goin out, it opens the circut when the belt goes in, which clicks on the light. i might wire up a little led to put osmewhere on my dash, so i know that im not buckled. i dont know. they charged me 50 bucks for the belts. good luck, Ben

I cut off about 4 or more inches on mine and welded a brace on the bottom of the cut off legs to mount them with. I didn't get the seatbelts for the outer seats, I wish I would have. I am going to put racing harnesses in since its a prostreet truck anyway.

Where do you guys get ahold of the Dodge seats? How much did they cost? I have been looking for a good replacement, but everytime I go to the junk yard, all the seats seam to be "junk".

we got a cool yard here close to sioux falls, and they let me walk around, i walked down the dodge isle, absolutely nothing, but way down in the ford isle there was dodge, i walked down checked it out good seat 150 bucks, done. i think i got a good deal, then they said 80 bucks for the belts, so i went to a different yard, got hte belts for 50, so 200 bucks for the seat and belts. keep you eyes open, youll find a deal. good luck, Ben

I just picked up a set today out of a 98. WOW they do sit high lol.. looks like I'll be cutting a bit out too. The 98 have shoulder harness/lapbelt already installed in the seat and also have 6way power with the lumbar air pump support. These were in perfect condition and ran about 300.00

I like those seats! I like how the belts are built-in. I can tell that those have the exact mounts that mine did. I paid $300 for mine too. It seemed like alot compared to a set of buckets. It seemed I could find them everywhere, but I really like the seating the bench provides. I just called all of the junk yards and found one that had one.

I think I'll try and take 2" off the outside mounts and see what that gets me. The factory seat sits a bit short for me and kills my knee's
How did the seat fit with taking 4 inches off? |

Mine sets just a little higher than the stock seat did. I still wish that gas tank was out of the cab. For the console to be able to swing up and down, you have to space it a little forward so that it doesn't scrape on the gas tank. I believe that my seats are little further forward than the original seat did. It's still very comfortable though and I use the console all the time. Definately a worthwhile upgrade. Don't you just love it when someone gets inside and says WoW! This is like a new truck inside.

Yep I know what you mean about the console. I have plans on relocating the gas tank so I think I'll mount the seat accordingly.
Man its like driving a different truck now. Feels like bucket seats (kinda) when the console is down. Its the most confortable this truck has been in a LONG time. Cant wait to get them installed perminantly tomorrow. Those shoulder belts should be pretty slick. |

I've since taken the Dodge seats out and replaced them with seats from a Xtended cab 98 Chevy truck. Using existing front bolt holes and drilled 4 new ones. Perfect height and fit. No mods to the seat frame needed.
