I am thinking about setting up my 67 C10 as tow vehicle. It has a 327, TH400, power steering and brakes (drums). The coils and shocks need to be replaced but what would be the best way to go. I can go stock or maybe air bag set up if it would be better. I will be towing an 18ft tandem axel trailer with 7500 lb rating and hauling a 68 firebird or a 73 Trans Am. I think they are around 3600 - 3800 lbs range. Any advice would be appreciated. Steve

Bags. My 67swb has 'em. Rides nice when empty. You can add air when you tow to level out the truck and trailer. Sure would suggest some front disc as well as brakes on both axles of the trailer. Some people might think that's a bit much, but another $200 for brakes on the additional trailer axle isn't much compared to the value of your truck, trailer, and Firebirds!

I tow with mine a lot. its a 67c10 (CST heavy 1\2) that came with a 327 but now has a 350, th400 and drums all around. i could pull a 23 ft camper with no problem. i did add 3\4 ton springs when one of mine gave up while driving a "little" rough off road. the 1\2 ton springs were too light compaired to the origional springs. the only time i had a problem was when i overloaded the truck while moving. i was pulling a 23 ft car trailer loaded with a 67 mustang and all my tools and spare parts, i also loaded the truck with boxes that filled the cab high shell. Now that was a load and still got 12 miles to the gallon on the 2300 mile drive.

some of us still use these old beasts for what they were made for..WORK. A new truck just isn't the same....too much plastic, recycled cans and electronic gagets just to make the thing run.

Not all of them can be show trucks and sit around looking shinny.
