Question Mirror replacement.

hey guys, got those repro mirrors i won on ebay today. paid 52.00 plus 12.00 shipping. seem to be alright mirrors. really want NOS tho. but whatever for now.

anyways, i have old original mirrors on there now. my question is. the rear bracket that the screws go into.. will that say in place if i unscrew all three screws? or will it fall into the door.

also if its going to fall down. will that small hole under the door panel be big enough to get my arm in there to hold it while i get my screws into it to mount the mirror?

let me know what you think.

joel.

Not sure if they will fall when you remove the screws, but I do know that there is enough room to reach in through the hole behind the door panel to hold it in place if it does. I installed a pair on my truck and had to do just that. I had a helper hold the bracket in place while I screwed the mirror on.

The 70s van I got the mirrors off of had the backing plates spot welded to the door. I don't know if that's how it was done on our trucks.

I have replaced several sets of this type. Yes you can reach the backing plate. If you have some one to help it will make the job easier. I have done it by myself. B.B.
