Help with dash

How do I take that vinyl padding stuff off the top of my dash on my 70? It's peeling up and I want to re-do it.

Thats a whole dash pad unit.

There are star shapped ( phillips) screws which you can see if you look up at the front of it. There are nuts on studs in the dash pad which are behind the dash panel. The studs go through holes in the upper dash and point downward and have nuts on them underneath. You will have to take stuff apart to get at those...removing the dash cluster, glove box, and radio are typical items to remove to get at those nuts on the studs..... on each end those nuts are little tricky to reach at also.

There is a cheapy..and I mean cheaply made plastic cover that will go over it all....looks better than cracks and such..or some replacement dash pads are getting close to texture and patterns. I try to save any good ones I find at yards.
