Yea, this is an on oft repeated ?. I ditched the headers on my Jimmy along with the 2 1/4" exhaust. I went back with 2 1/2" 'vette Rams Horns. The 62-63 drivers side was the cheapest I could find and bought two. Used my bandsaw to lop off the generator mounts and a grinder to smooth it out. I used 2 1/2" aluminized pipe and Walker Hemi turbo mufflers. My butt-o-meter says low speed torque is improved and horsepower is at least the same. Mind you I have a little cam, 210/210 @ .050 and .440 lift. This is one of the best mods I have done on the truck and highly recommend it.

I think mine came from Eckler's Corvette parts. It was about 5 years ago and they were $75 each new.

Thanks Al

Here is more info:

http://www.castheads.com/2into1_systems.php

anyone tried 2into1

I would like to run a single pipe to the back just like factory exhaust
but 2 - 2 1/2" into 3" with nice quite 3" in 3" out freeflow muffler.
If there is such a thing.

I'm running the 2.5" Corvette ram horn set up into the 2 into 1 Brzezinsky collector. The 2-1 collector is sized at 3.5" on the discharge side (with the 2.5 primaries), so I reduced that down to 3" for a Dynomax free flow RV muffler. I built the whole exhaust out of mandrel bent tubing.
If you are interested, I could email pictures. I can't post them on the board....

Compared to the skinny non mandrel bent single exhaust that was on it, the Blazer is making probably 50 more HP. Low end torque is greatly improved as well. It does sound loud with the top on, but I have metal floors currently, so I hear a lot of noise. I went with a huge 3" Dynomax high flow RV muffler because I though it would be quieter, but it is a little loud for my tastes (I don't like to draw attention). I am considering adding a resonator to the exhaust to quieten it down further.
I bought the complete 2-1 system with mandrel bent pipes and gasketless exhaust manifold-pipe interface and have had no issues with leaks etc. I'll email pictures tonight, and you can post them if you want. I'd do it myself but have no host currently.
