good idea or bad idea??

I would like to put disk brakes all the way around front and back. I would also like to change out the old 65 gmc rearend for something what i can put disk on. Also if anyone has a list of what is all needed for the front transfer from drum to disk would be great as well. "Could not find old post" Also would like to swap the 305 V6 for a 400 and swap the 4 speed with an auto do i need to change the driveshaft as well? Or would it be just as good to find an old junk GMC/Chevy and just start ripping it apart for the parts i want to use and if so what year/make/model would work. Everyones opinion is helpfull

for the front just find a 73+ parts truck and buy the complete front suspension, not only would you get 5 lug disk you will have the better/cheaper ball joints. I paid $300 for a complete front suspension

You will need to shorten or find a different driveshaft as the slip yoak and length would be different. As for the rearend, you should probably look for a later model one and find a disc brake conversion kit for it. I believe GMC's have a leaf spring rear suspension, I ain't sure. I know on coil spring Chevy's a rearend from a '72 would work with some minor fabrication. That is what my 62 has. Good luck.....
