Question about grills...?
I have a 64 short fleet with the original grill which I believe is anodized aluminum. I want to make a custom grill and a steel one would be a lot easier to work with. I was wondering if the grills that came painted from the factory were steel or aluminum. Or maybe someone would know where I could buy a bare steel repro grill? thanks

The painted grilles were steel. 64-66 were the most common grilles and are availiable new at almost all the vendors. Used ones are pretty easy to find too. You shouldn't have many problems locating one. Later...

fishmunger, I don't know of anyone who offers a plain steel grille. All of the repro grilles that I've seen are chrome. You may talk to one of the board vendors and see if they offer plain steel grilles. Kevin.

Aluminum grill
The aluminum grills are very hard to come by in good condition...don't scrap yours if you switch to a steel job. An N.O.S. aluminum grill just sold for $560.00 on Ebay.

grills
Fishmunger,
Both LMC and Brothers offer steel grills in epd coated primer for custom paint. Their prices are fairly reasonable compaired to chrome.undefined |
