Ken, give us an update

Ken, so what kind of progress has been made on the Blazer lately? I haven't seen you post or talk about it for quite some time, curious to see where it's at.

How about everyone with projects that are torn apart and in the rebuild stage posting their progress?

Well, I really want to hear whats up with Kens Ride. Until he chimes in, I can fill you in on my...or lack thereof.

I got my engine back from the machine shop/builder late last month. I ended up pulling it out because I found a few things I thought were questionable after it was built by the first builder...if you can call him that. Turns out he never planed the intake to match the block decking (which he said he did), the pistons were WAAAY too tight in the cylinder walls, and the valvesprings were completely wrong for my application. If I got the engine started, which the last (most current) builder didn't think it would spin, I would have done quite some damage to the engine once I did. Sooo, it is now back in my possession, overhauled again, and awaiting some warm weather so I can paint it and put it back in the frame. The guy who just finished going thru/rebuilding it this time is a friend of mine, knows what he is doing, and very trustworthy. I wish I would have gone thru him right off the bat.

On to the body...

I have the box completely ready for bodywork and paint, it is just a matter of actually making contact with my painter and making arrangements to get him to work on it. The painter who has done most of the bodywork thus far does this out of his shop/pole barn/garage for a living. He is very good at what he does, but just a horrible person to get a hold of, or have return calls. He does quite a bit of work (like complete cars), so I am assuming he squeezes me in whenever he can since I probabally bring him th least amount of money per job. Once he gets the box, it will be soda blasted, then the stake pockets get filled, gass doors get shaved, floor gets a small patch, and then the paint goes on.

Once I get the box back, it will go on the frame and then the truck goes in for its complete and final paint. (Cab, doors, fenders, etc are all already finished)

I have all the interior stuff either finished and installed, or finished and ready for install...with the only exception being carpet and seat covers.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

OK, then he has to spill the beans on his 77 too.

Isn't he doing an engine and trans swap?

Sorry for the delayed response guys, I just haven't been on much lately. I drop in to check my forum but that's about it.

The Blazer has been on standby. The guys at Stoked Out have been working on my 77 between all the other awesome projects they have going. They haven't had the time to work on the Blazer "and" the 77 at the same time which works out well since I haven't had the budget to afford two money hungry projects at once.

The 77 is getting a new motor and transmission. I made a deal with the guys at Stoked Out not to post many details or pics until it was done. I will tell you that the restored theme no longer exists under the hood.

You guys will just have to use your imagination till it's finished.....

I had a call from a freelance photographer that is supposed to be in Texas around the 4th of July. He wants to take a look at what we have done, so I hope to have it ready by then....

Hey Ken, Just out of curiosity. Do you have any idea how much $$ you have in the 77?

I don't really want to know.....

Seriously, I haven't added it up but it's a lot. Keep in mind I have had all the labor done at Stoked Out Specialties which is a premium quality hot rod shop. They are not cheap by any means, but the quality of their work is evident at a glance....

If you really want to know, make me an offer.....
