Grill Repair
Has anyone ever tried to repair one of these grills? I want to use the '76 grill on my '78 Big 10 and have one with all the chrome trim thats perfect except for one small piece thats broke out. What would be the best way to repair this? I need a 454 grill emblem also, are these the same from '73 up? Thanks in advance. Mingoman

I was looking into this a while back. I found a site on the internet about grill repair. They said that, if you have the broken out pice, you can glue it in with plastic model cement. I believe they touched it up with Bondo, and repainted everything with Krylon "Dull Aluminum."
If the broken part is chromed, it will be harder to cover up the repair. Of course, I was able to buy a replacement from a local "Crash Parts" type place for mine for $24, so I never tried to repair it. You might be able to do that. Slonaker |

I didn't think about model cement. I don't have the peice that is gone but I was thinking about getting a broken grill from a yard and cutting out the peice I needed. I was thinking about trying fiberglass from behind the grill then fill in the front. I haven't been able to find a good '76 grill around here so I think I'll try and fix this one and see how it turns out. Thanks.

I used the Krylon Dull Aluminum to paint my headlight bezels based on what was said on that site. It was a perfect match to the grill.

I found a brand new grill on E-Bay for my '73 and ended up paying 49.50 for it. Did I ever luck out. It was still in the original GM box. That was sweet.
