engine ID.
Just dragged the 81 home, and it has what appears to be a tall deck BB in it.The guy I bought it from says it's a 427,and then I hear it's a 366 so here are the numbers from the front of the block,if that will tell me anything.
Can someone decipher this or tell me how to ID the motor? these are right above the timing cover in the center of the block T1017AXX Any information is appreciated, thanks

Suffix codes
I looked at this web site and they have a large selection of stampings . It is a truck motor that was assembled on October 17 . What is the casting date on the block ? That might help also . I dont see a stamping AXX but there is a 4XX. Here is the link in case it is actually something other than AXX .

That is definitely a good outcome . By the way , that website has just about every suffix listed . Just click on the dropdown at the top and select the correct range . Frank
