board member WES
i ordered a body filler plug from board member wes i spent close to twenty dollars and was sent a $.35 piece of round sheet metal. I am very disappointed and told him so. I have yet to hear from him and would like every one to be cautious when ordering from his site.

fair vendor
Sounds like the going rate for piece I have seen made. I'm assuming shipping is part of price. Any pictures of your part? Chances are he is buying from supplier and selling to us with small (usually very small) profit margin.
What were you expecting? Give him a chance to respond, he is a stand up guy.

WES is a good vendor to deal with. Maybe he sent you the wrong part!

I've never done business with Wes either but hear nothing but good things about him. I have yet to have any problems with vendors or anyone here on this board. I will say that I made my own cab filler plug out of a "spare" piece of sheetmetal I had because I couldn't see spending the amount the pre made pieces were going for.... regardless where you get'em from...

I agree with Johnny. Its just a piece of metal that fills a hole. It still needs to be welded in. Maybe you had ideas of getting something else. Wes is pretty much a stand up guy when it comes to his customers.

Was it a "bait and switch" or did you get what you ordered? Will it serve the purpose for what it was intended or should it be a square piece of sheetmetal? Wes has a great reputation on this board, he's never done anyone wrong. He probably made a buck or two off that piece of sheet metal.

Wes and I had a disagreement over advertising, he is not banned from this site. He has however ALWAYS stood behind his parts, and is a great vendor to do business with.
He has always responded to emails in a timely manner, or you could try private messaging him here also incase the email was lost or misdirected.

Here's the deal.....
WES aka your bad seller.... Has never had a bad dealing before on this board or otherwise. Have you tired to call or email and or private message him?? You do know he has his own message board on his website. Did you try that? Also as a heads up that is why we have a review board. how long did you look for a place to buy this part? You got to be careful on here. Alot of folks have built great trucks with his parts and help from this board. try to resolve this before you ad more negative feedback. Businesses get do get busy!!!!

Dude, thanks for the heads up, but..........
If the part in question is a fuel hole filler, then yes $20.00 is in the ball park. What were you expecting, I mean we are talking about a slightly concave, round patch piece right? You should have waited for a response from him, then if you were still unsatisfied come to the board with your complaint. You have to give him the opportunity of making things good first. Sorry for the lecture, but rookie moves like this give us "newbies" a bad name. Last edited by screamin_c102; 05-15-2005 at 03:49 AM. |

I'd be willing to bet you got 'exactly' what was advertised.
It was then your choice to purchase the part. Flaming a guy for doing his job is risky on an open board like this. But hey, welcome to the board. |

"Quote - I hope WES sees this post and realizes there alot of people here who would like to see him back on the board! Besides we need some updates on the panel truck! " - I hear ya on that one. I'd like to see his Garden truck as well. That fuel filler patch is deceiving as it don't look like it'd cost must. I thought the same thing when I got mine.

I've dealt with Wes and he's a pretty much stand up guy, not many people would take the time and effort to ship a used P/S pump setup internationally for what I considered to be a pretty good price.

A public hanging? Heck this thread is great advertising for him. I think you should have discussed your issue with him first. The part?...What more could be expected?

I ordered a radiator support from him and he was great. He gave me a prive with shipping that was less than other vendors. Then another board member said he had one for half the price so I told Wess I found a cheaper one and he was understanding. In the end, the board member said it was junk and not sellable so I contacted Wes and he got me out a new one and it arrived the same week. He was a great guy to deal with and Ii plan to deal with him again.
It may seem like a cheap piece of metal but here is how I think about it. I don`t have any sheetmetal laying around to make my own patch plus the fact that there is time involved in cutting out the correct size and shaping it to the cab takes time as well. It`s worth $20 to me to buy one that someone else has already gone through the hassle of making and shaping. My truck is stored a hour away from me so I can only work on it on the weekends for a few hours each day so saving some time is important enough to me to buy something like this. I hope it all works out.
