Exhaust question

I have recently bought a '72 k5 blazer for a dollar.

She has a rebuilt stock 350. I am planning to get new exhaust from the exhaust manifold on back. What do you recommend for exhaust pipe size. i am debating whether to go true dual exhaust or single. I am planning to get flowmasters or have no muffler at all. i want something with a low tone, and relatively loud, without losing power. what do you guys recommend

If you go to a shop that's a FLOWMASTER DEALER, they have a
spec sheet in their catalog that gives you a proper pipe size for
guestamated hp ratings in single or dual format, hope it helps

I refuse to run flows, been there done that, my exhaust goes
on in less than two week, 2.5" aluminized w/ SS magnaflows!

Welcome to the world of of 1st Gen blazers. Looks like you're making gret progress.

With a stock engine like yours, 2 1/4" duals would do the trick. Don't forget the cross over pipe. And DON'T buy the Hooker kit. It doesn't fit. Been there, done that!

I'll go against the grain here and recommend a large single pipe. If done and sized correctly, it is dyno proven to make more power. Plus you can use your stock hangars and routing. Check the ram horn thread and check the links to www.castheads.com

Check the 2 into 1 exhaust systems to see the dyno charts between dual exhaust and a 2-1.

Family friend going threw a divorce. They were planning to give it away to Goodwill or something like that. I was looking for a project vehicle, so they said if i wanted it I could have for a $1. Funny we drove it 3 block and someone already offerd to buy it, what fun would that be though. LUV2XCLR8 why do you hate flowmasters?

Unless you live in mitchell county n.c. No muffler laws at all,Everyone runs straight pipes..And it echoes off the mountains like thunder...The Chevy's sound good ,but these F*rd guys and D*dge guys here think there's sound good too? The F*rds sound terrible.. No inspections,no radar!!!hehehe You are lucky to see a n.c. trooper once every 3-4 months...They only come here for accident reports..

Wouldnt that be nice in Washington in the past 2 months, there isnt a day I dont see a cop. My friend has a D*dge 1500 with no mufflers and its not that loud at all, but it sounds really really nice

WHATTTT WHAT WAHT? Alright, i got my FLOWMASTERS put on in the MECca Of flowmaster (thats right - take a look at the sticker [hint]). I have my new(1.5months) turbu 40 serries put on (2) w and H pipe.... headers w/ a 3" collecter and 2.5" pipes all the way back. Granted thur not stainless (ok you got flowmaster thur) - they sound f!cking great.... i'm way happy with them, and i got them put on and the old ones swapped out at johnny franklins for $150 or so... out the drive. Well i'm happy with them for what they are and the value...

BUt really.... i want some cut outs....electric ones, lets talk about who has those.. and see pics....

At certain rpm levels they create interior worble / hum, don't get me
wrong they sound killer, I have had them on all of my trucks, since I
got to work part time on the side at my buddies muffler shop I have
grown to luv MAGNAFLOWS, they are much nicer, quieter at idles, it
is wide open under full throttle like a flow, NO interior worble / hum

I was about to get those , i wanted something with straight flow through design, they told me to get the turbo 40 serries 2 chambers, and so did my wallet. I'ma get me some nice magnaflows when i have a 350 that deserves them. wait, forget a 350

I completely understand why luv2xclr8 dislikes flows for that. my only gripe about magnaflows is they are too damn expensive, at least for me that is. Right now im running straight pipe, dumps right after the transfer case. ITS WAY TOO LOUD, but I am planning to get that fixed.

Same price as FLOWS here in West. TN.

I went on the magnaflow site, I guess they do run around $150 just for the muffler, but when I called the local exhaust shop they quoted me $500. If I could afford it, I would. Looks like flows or straight pipe yet again. My s-10 cost me $220 for a catback install and custom pipe.

Getting mine done Thursday for price you were quoted above, 2 Stainless Steel
Magnaflows ($300), 2 front 2.5" Aluminized exhaust pipes (Header to Mufflers),
and 2 rear 2.5" Aluminized tail pipes (Mufflers to Tips) and 2 exhaust tips, The
aluminized pipe runs my buddy cost at close to $35 a stick, and we are going
to be using 4 sticks, most shops, who quote lower prices, use steel pipe, there
is a huge differance in quality, my buddy is clearing $100 profit on my job so a
$500 quote may not be out of line depending on the products they use, oh yea
I also forgot 6-8 Heavy duty "J" hangers, not the cheapy weld in strap kind.

I love the straight pipes on my '79 and have not got pulled over yet and truck we I have opened them up on occasion. Anyways I like those FlowMasters but I also like the MagnaFlows but I quoted alot more money $$ for them then the Flows though. I like dual exhaust but that is just my personal preference.
