My wife argued with me the other day because I told her I had ordered a new dash pad. I told her last fall I was replacing it. I told her this winter when I was pulling the dash apart to get the old one off. I told her this spring when I needed a truck to haul some stuff and couldn't use mine because the steering wheel is resting on the seat. So when I tell her its coming she says its a waste of time and money. She said, and I quote "that thing never gets finished" and "spending money on it is a waste because you never finish it".

What I told her was this, She needs to make up her mind between never spending the money to finish it, or complaining that its not finished. She can't have it both ways. I think she may have finally seen the logic there, but I'll wait until she hears that I spent more money on other parts so I can put more of it back together.

What are ya goin to do?

HG

BTW, I got the new dash pad in, the gage cluster back in and working, the tach back working, the steering column back up and even figured out some of my bastardized wiring mistakes from days gone past. I am very pleased with my progress. Oh, and it runs great too!

Hey Matt-I guess it depends on how much you spent on those seats whether your wife will understand.

Just tell her "Look at all the money I have spent on you, so stop your *****ing, or I will trade the truck and you in for a newer model" Old trucks are like an old wife, you cant expect pleasure every day(once a month is asking a lot) but we still keep them around......

Actually, next time you 150 or so to buy a truck part with, tell her about it... then go outside lock up the truck and take her to a nice NICE dinner and start saving for the part again. the truck will wait, the last thing that you want is for the marriage to rust.

ie, the other post about the guy selling the truck to make effort to save the marriage, none of us want to get in that situation.

Ya gotta admit, they look like the centerpiece of a crackheads living room. She will be amazed (and proud) at how beautiful they turn out too.

Gee I have two of those stached away now and the wife gave me the thumbs up both times. She actually points out 67-72's for me and tells me to go check them out. I feel pretty lucky to have such a loving and supporting wife ( and to have found two of those seats LOL).

Remember married guys, everything you buy has three prices:
The price you really paid.
The price you told her you paid.
The price you pay when she finds out what you really paid.

It is amazing a woman can understand ( or recommend ) spending 25 thousand for a new truck but not 10 thousand to build your own american Muscle. Real trucks are built not bought.

My problem is I don't have anyplace left to stick the large parts. My front porch is packed, under the bed is full, behind the sofa & loveseat too. She let's me get away with it for a little while then starts on me about the clutter.

Guess it's time I started using some of these parts(to make room for more...)

I know where I can get a set of blazer buckets now that need to be refurbished. Whats a fair price when they are are in bad shape like those pictured?

HG

BTW, I spent half the day in the garage today and she didn't say a dam thing. I even showed her my progress and she was happy for me. I'm beginning to think she changed her medication. Whatever works I guess.
