ignition switch

My '62 one ton has an ignition switch you can use without a key,or use the key and lock it. It works fine now,but I've NEVER seen one in anybody's parts catalog. Does anyone still sell one? Is the switch itself the same as the "key only" kind? What was it-a rare option or something?

Speedking, does it have a raised area around the key so that you can turn the switch without the key? My 65 has a lock cylinder like it. I think that they were factory. I have never seen one for sale in any catalog. The only ones that I have seen for sale are the flat lock cylinders that have to have a key to turn. I believe that a key only lock cylinder will work in its place. I don't think it was a rare option because I've seen a few trucks with them that weren't restored. I just hope that mine lasts a good long time because it's so convienent to use without the key, and looks like it's locked when you turn it off. Kevin

One of mine is like that & the other is not. Both 64's, neither has the raised area. Brian

65,thats the one I have. I don't know what I'll do when I wear this one out-maybe somebody'll start making them again. I guess we COULD start hoarding them, eventually make them a "very desirable"option.
