2BBL Carb Install?
I installed a Rochester 2BBL carb - my first attempt at a rebuild. The rebuild kit came with all the gaskets, including the carb to intake gasket. After install, it leaks at the carb to intake gasket.
I used the paper gaskets that came with the rebuild kit. Should I have used a gasket sealer, too? Or is there a better type of gasket? This is my first effort at a truck and I appreciate all of the help I have gotten from this board.

Vacuum leak or fuel leak? The paper gaskets should do the trick, no sealer is required. Did you make sure that your carb and intake surfaces are clean and flat? Check them with a straight edge. Tighten the bolts down a little at a time to and evenly all the way around, and be careful not to overtighten or you'll warp the flanges on the carb. You can clean up any minor irregularities on the surfaces with a flat mill file.

Your carb is flooding. Recheck your float level and needle and seat. There probably is something (speck of dirt) under the needle.

It is a fuel leak. Thanks for the advice. I'll check on the surfaces and the float and needle today.

Sometimes a pice of crud in the carb can be cleared by removing the air cleaner, with engine running, open accelerator, then cover carb with a big folded towel. This causes gas to really flow rapidly into carb usually cleaning out any dirt particles left behind. Might have to do this a few times.
