straight vs. angle dump ram horn exh manifolds

What trucks are suppose to have which exhaust manifolds? I saw a 307 in the yard today that had straight dump manifolds, but was thinking that most had angle dumps? Can anyone shed some light on that.

Thanks
Brian

See already we have conflicting information, hence the questions....

Stocker, are yours original and what year / model / engine is your truck?

Classic heart beat shows angle dump....I believe LMC shows both angle and straight, but I don't think they clarify which is used in what appliation.

Keep the information coming....

thanks

I had a '68 back in me youth that had one of each (whole motor was a transplant as the VIN called for an I6).

When I bought my 2WD 72 it had angled on the passenger side and straight on the driver side. Who knows if they were original or not. I replaced the straight dump with an angled dump because the bolts were a pain to access on the straight dump.

the 2wd trucks had angle dumps. if you were around back in the 60's(I am that old lol!)....the cars had straight dumps . the manifolds will fit the 2wdtrucks, but it makes getting the nuts started on the ex studs a big PITA! Now if you slide that smallblock in on I 6 stands, the straight dumps will fit just fine L

Mine came with 2 angled, but the passanger side broke. The only replacement I could find was a straight dump. PITA to get to the bolts, so I finally said f*** it and got hooker long tube headers.

I had an extremely difficult time finding a good driver side angled manifold. I don't blame you for going the header route!

The right side is original - the left side cracked and I replaced it with the same configuration, though it had air pump ports (original manifolds did not) which I plugged.

Truck info is in my sig. - 1972 K20, 350 engine, 350 trans, 205 t-case....

Well it sounds like the answer, by popular vote is, 4x4 = straight, 2x4 = angle. I will have to check that truck in the yard (with straight dumps) to see if it was a 2x4 or a 4x4.

Thanks
Brian
