? re. stepside bed floor
How many floor supports are used on a stock short bed stepside?? I'm talking about the cross supports that are bolted under the floor with thru bolts going into the top wood metal peices.

Interesting---mine is the same but it seems like a long distance between the center section without any support for the wood. I would think it would (wood) flex quite a bit if you put anyting heavy between the front and rear sections. Oh well----. Thanks for the help!

It does, that is why you saw so many farmers welded in plates for a floor, because the wood wood giveout or flex too much under the weight of livestock. I have some extra of the smaller cross braces that I am going to add into mine when it gets reassembled.
If I remeber right, the 73-87 steps added 2 of the smaller braces because of that.

Mine has four bars. The wood actually sits on the frame on my truck in the middle. There are three cross sills towards the front of the cab and one in the back.
