They aren't factory built ... they are "one-off" customs.

Not completely true. The yellow/ochre truck was an original "coach-built" crew cab truck. Classic trucks did a feature on it. The owner modified the B pillar from the original triangle shape to match the front doors. It is a 70 truck with a 67 nose. I have no idea about the second truck.

GM didn't make any crew cab trucks from the factory ... they had secondary companies do this sort of work for them.

Get in touch with Longhorn Man .... he can help you out with history.

I thought one of Rick's customers did the custom work, and Ricks helped with some other areas. I could be wrong though???

I have a 1970 4x4 long box that was built at Scott Cheverlet in Oklahoma City.they made the 3 and 4 door 6 man cabs. they extended the cabs 42 inches to take another front door.the cab is huge inside.they did some without extending the wheel bace and they shortened the box.there was another company in Pigeon, Michigan called Alton Company that biult them to.I have heard storys of there only being 1500
of these made from 67-72 I dont know if that is per year or in all but if that were per year you would think you would see alot more of them. But I could be wrong.
I got my truck from a farmer in nabraska that ordered it. and was used on his farm for 30 years.

crew70, You plan on restoring that truck? Both yours & "crews" trucks are neat. There used to be a twin to crews CrewCab near me about 15 years ago but he sold it at Carlilse and I lost track of it. Always liked them.

And BTW - 67Chev, the one with the 67 nose is actually Gold, not yellow or Ochre. He did it to sorta mimik a 50th color scheme.

If I am not mistaken the crew cab trucks were built special for the railroad. Also i remember seeing the truck on the top left advertised for sale a while back on a different site.

I actually like the look of the door pillar on that last one. That "V" kinda looks like a Texas Longhorn silloette.

I saw one of these about 2 years ago just south of Minot, ND. I don't remember if it was for sale or not. It was sitting on the south side of somebodys house.

Thats funny, the one with the tiny bed looks familiar, doesn't it? Sure reminds me of the "mid-size" trucks with four doors and no bed! Crazy! Over 35 years later it's being used on new trucks.
