Front clearance lights on a 67???
On my 67 the clearance lights in the grille come on when you pull the light switch to the first position, then go off when you pull it to the second position (headlights come on). Rear lights are on in both positions. Is this normal? Greg

I changed them by just re-pinning the headlight switch. As I think about this as I type maybe my switch had been changed. I really don't think you need a different harness.

All pre 68 vehicles do this.
That's why they used to be called parking lights instead of running lights like they are called now. |

Thanks for the help. Sorry for the delay, I forgot I was going out of town for a week when I posted the question. I swapped the switch from my 70 to the 67, and they both still work the same (70 grille lights on all the time), so the wiring is what's different. I will convert them to "running lights" when I get a little time. Greg

If anyone has any tips on that procedure ( where & how to re-wire) I'd sure love to see them. I want to do the same thing. I was just going to wire my park lights up to the headlight wire but then you can't have just the park lights on. I tried changin switches too, didn't work.

don't you have to change bulbs and wiring?to a dual element bulb (1157 )so you can have a running light and a blinker light?

I think they are a dual (1157) element bulb already. There's two wires going to them. I was thinkin today mayby just hookin them up to the tail light curcuit. But that would be kinda cheesy.

They are already wired with the 1157, if I'm not mistaken, it is a simple job...some one covered it on here a few years ago... and I remember it looking easy, butsince I have no 67, i didn't pay much attention.

OK, the wiring change is easy. I did mine today.
1. Cut the purple wire about 2 inches from the headlight switch (in case you ever want to put it back original), and tape the end going to the headlight switch. 2. Take the purple wire going into the wire harness and connect it to the brown wire on the headlight switch. 3. You're done.
