vin tag location
is the vin tag located in the same general spot in all of the 67-72 chevys, looked at a 71-72 chevy and didnot see the vin tag by the door latch. it did have a rectangled hole there go long ways vertical. thought the this might be for the cab pressure valve.
would like to know for sure if this cab is worth usin. best cab ive seen around here.

I believe the only place the VIN tag is located is on the drivers door jam.
I know the VIN number can be found in a few different places on the frame but the only tag was in the drivers door jam.

I'm not that familiar with the pickup cabs but I don't think they appeared untill at least 73.
Don't quote me though.

I know 72 cabs had the black plastic air vent in the drivers side of the cabs door jam, I can't remember if 71 had them or not. You need to have the vin tag on the cab... why was it removed? Where is it today? Makes me wonder if the cab came off a stolen truck, and the tag removed.

The vent in the dvr door jamb started in 71.
67 - 69 had 2 seperate plates, one VIN and one GVW (IIRC) 71 had a one year only trait, there was a raised mounting pad in the metal over the windshield for the rear view mirror. |

What if you want to take the vin plate off and polish it while you paint the truck? Can I get new vin rivets? Do you think it would be ok to use regular rivets?
