Considering this truck... looks sorta shady, whadya think?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...552635061&rd=1
It's only 20 minutes away from me. Talked to the guy today. Told me a million things. Custom interior, new carb, old one included (which is also new), no rust, body immaculate, all suspension lift, no blocks, new ignition system. Only things he said were wrong were the radiator overflow is cracked, and I guess that year is specific and they can't find the right one to replace it so they said screw it, and the pinion gear up front it going bad, and there is just a nickel sized spot of rust on the front quarter. Says 4500 is rock bottom take it away price. But I dunno, something just don't seem right with it. I'm gonna go take a look at it but just wanted to get as many opinions as possible.

If it looks that good up close, and it only has the problems he mentioned, it sounds like a fair price. It is not his truck and he is not a very good writer, so he may NOT know the true condition of the truck his friend left him. Also, make sure of the legality of the title changeover since he is not the listed owner. BTW yes, those years (73-87) were know to have cracked overflow bottles, especially in the north. Most folks I know down here and up there don't worry about it because even when replaced they don't seem to last long before cracking again.
Hey....its a 454.... But, now you have to feed it

When he says it was completely rebuilt from the ground up 2800 miles ago, but it has a bad rear axle pinion bearing, I totally question what was rebuilt.
It looks like a 2000 dollar truck with a 1000 dollar paint job to me. I'd be looking it over with a fine tooth comb before I would consider a purchase. The 85 truck they got the sheet metal from was a diesel, not as if that really matters...

I just looked at it. I'm doing a Blazer frame/Truck Body from the ground up. I painted, replaced,Got new almost everything. Looking at the engine compartment he could at least painted the firewall and inner fenders since it was " FROM GROUNG UP " work. Still a nice truck.

i wander why he doesnt show the rear bumper or the back of the truck in any of the pics?...and wheres the interior pics?...seems like he's only wanting to show people what he wants them to see
from looking at the front bumper...it looks to have just a cheap $70 body lift.....(whoopy doo) i agree about the firewall...if it was redone "from the ground up"......when you change cabs, how hard is it to paint the firewall??...duh... cheap rims, cheap lift=cheaply done (in my opinion)

yeah, he does say "A 4 inch suspension and 2 inch body lift" so yes, it is body lifted according to the ad, so if he told you on the phone its all suspension then somebody's stretching the truth.

Seems like a pretty nice truck, but seems a bit steep at what its at right now. I think you could take your money further with something else. Just my .03 cents.'
Does not look like a very good ground up too me, looks like mostly chrome engine and a good paint job to me. -Later

I'd vote to keep looking.
although the big block would be nice I think the price is steep especially when the tires are not included. what's up with that? T

Here's an update, the guy called my house yesterday while I was at work and left a message saying he wasn't going to be around for me to look at the truck... So yea, screw that. I found a shortbed 4x4 I'm looking at now, just waiting for the dingus to call me back...or me call him back 500 times, his choice =] lol

I guess you asked too many questions and good for you. I guess he will hang out untill he can find "one".
