REPO Gas Tank Review
Since mine bit the bullet (leaking) , I bought one. Looks pretty good but the straps look kind of funky and the filler neck is shorter. I have a feeling my filler hose will not be working. I'll post some post-op pics in a few days when I finish.
I cleaned and painted my axles and leaf springs while the tank was out. Killed a few birds with one stone.

Yup, I installed a new one a couple of months ago. Same issues but it's working. I had to replace my hose to the tank anyway, so I just bought a little extra to make up for the shorter filler neck. It's a very tight turn around a body mount and the hose touches the body mount, don't know if it will eventually rub through. I brought it up on the board at the time and no responses. Hope that means no one ever had a problem with it.

I am at that point now,I have 2 blazer tanks that are shot,I am cutting off the metal neck and putting a 2 inch hose between it and the new tank neck. That way its metal around the body mount just using 2 pieces of hose,The tank it no good anyway, cut the tube off it. I will post pics later this afternoon as i am doing it right now..

REPO Gas Tank Review

I am having these same issues except I have no idea how to get a hose on or where to get a hose that will fit. What did you do? how about those straps as well? They suck. I am very disatisfied about the quality of the straps and the placement of the neck. How could someone design a neck that aims directly at the body mount? WHy wouldn't they use the stock design? I am pissed right now. My official review of this tank: 2 sucky thumbs down. I almost went with Fuelcell Guy and next time I will.

You can get the 1 1/2 inch fuel filler hose at napa...they sell it by the foot.
They designed the new tanks for install under pickup beds? I was a little mad that you have to modify it to work,If you metal tank is shot, cut the bent filler off it,put a small hose like 2 inches from the tank to tube, then put the long one one...Thats what i did ,Erick Last edited by bisquik65; 06-05-2005 at 05:20 PM. |

when I pulled my old tank out, I took it and my new one down to a radiator shop and had them switch the filler necks and vapor tubes. costs like $40.

They have steel replacements. Thats what I have. BTW: I am using the stock straps because the straps in the kit are a joke.

i just put a new tank in my truck, a few of the things that i went through when i put it in were. Napa doesn't have the exact same size as the original rubber hose, I can't remember what the size was, but I was able to find it at a marine supply store. It's about $15 dollars a foot. I also had the filler neck swapped over at a radiiator repair shop for about 30 bucks. the one thing that I coudn't find were the gas tank pads so I used a sheet of rubber.
I used the straps in the kit, they were really hard to put on, but seem to do the job. one of my stock straps broke so I would like to find another to replace them with.

A local rubber supply company had the 1 3/8" hose we need. I ended up buying marine grade that had wire coil inside, this will keep it from collapsing when you put it on the short inlet pipe and go around the body mount. I think I paid like $27 for four feet. My straps worked out OK, I just hung the hooked bolt just like the originals on the other side and adjusted the bolts until it was in place. I saved my inlet pipe from my old tank just incase I need it in the future, if the hose rubs through at the body mount. All the vent pipes on the new tank were identical to my old tank.

You say you used a "rad. hose" for the filler tube.
Has it held up. I know the reg. rubber hose won't hold up if exposed to gas, even gas vapour.

I just put it on so it's held so far. When I was buying my original piece of Fuel hose the guy told me Radiator hose was approved for fuel but not recommended. I'll take my chances since nothing else will fit.
