Talking The tuned port roared to life!!!

Turns out I had the wrong oil pressure switch and the ECM was damaged. But, today the tuned port came to life. I'm a happy lad and the engine has now been through the initial break-in. Special thanks to neonlarry for trouble shooting help. Now, its time to get busy and finish putting it together for summer fun in the sun....... and 100+ degree heat.

That's cool, now I have to get one of mine in and running. If you get a chance how about some pics, you have to show it off.

Congrats! I'm really jealous. I'm still in the gathering parts stage of my TPI conversion. I did manage to modify the '87 intake to fit my old heads and painted it today. Parts are trickling in, hopefully I'll get it put together by mid-July.

I need an oil pressure switch too. Where did you get it? Part #?

Congrats on getting it going. Mine has been running for almost a year and I love it.

MikeS
I am pretty sure that Arizona Speed and Marine has an oil pressure switch that will work with our mechanical oil pressure gauges.

I bought it from Advance Auto Parts #OPS110, $7.97 plus I had to buy a 1/4"F to 1/8"M adapter. You should be able to find it just about anywhere. I put a tee in so I could run a mechanical oil pressure gauge.

neonlarry,
I'll post some pictures once I have it more presentable. It's kind of a mess right now after all the trouble shooting.

Congrats man!

I am getting really close to firing my TPI up for the first time too I already broke the engine in on a carb, so if I have issues, I won't be risking my cam :P

I've gotten mine to fire up twice, but I'm having problems. I think the oil pressure switch or wiring to it is bad. My switch is plugged in right above the oil filter (87 TPI) so I think it got fried on the headers in the vehicle i got it out of (but the funny thing is that it was running fine)

On my 86 TPI my oil pressure switch was behind the distributor. I bypassed my oil pressure switch because I didn't have room for it with my engine in the 4x4 position. When I put my 700r4 in I am moving my engine to the 2wd position and I will put the oil pressure switch back in.

Cool!! I SHOULD be ready to fire the 383 TPI in a couple weeks. Doing a blazer tank swap too for the return line.(Don't want a high pressure fuel return line running inside the cab!!)

Seems like the thing to do. I finally receive the last box of my TPI purchase off Ebay, now I just have to find time to work on it. Too many projects, not enough time.
