383 short block in KY - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am selling a 383 SBC short block, I'm asking $400 but will consider lower offers. the engine was bought from a friend who was in need of some quick cash. He sold the heads off of it a few weeks prior to me getting the motor so there is some surface rust in the cylinders. (i have since kept oil on them)I would recomend a re-ring kit and Hone the cylinders. The Lunati Cam that is in it has a worn Lobe so a new cam will be needed. Its a 2 bolt main 2 piece rear seal engine and machine work on the block was in the $600 range, it has .030 flat top pistons and a Scat crank. Comes with Flex plate, Harmonic Balancer and Oilpan. Mileage on the engine was estimated at 5-7k. Engine is located in Nicholasville, Ky 40356. Your more than welcome to check it out in person. I can get pics upon request.

Do you have any pictures of the surface rust? Why was it removed from the vehicle it was in? Where at in KY are you? Need to know so I can figure out how much it is going to cost me to pick up from Pittsburgh, PA.

I can get you pics of the cylinders this afternoon, the engine was in a 70 Camaro that was in bad shape. He planned on putting the engine in his Iroc but never did. I am in Nicholasville, KY 40356. Its just south west of Lexington Ky if your interested. There is some interest in the engine but no one has said I will take it yet, it is listed on a few other websites as well. Just let me know............jt
