Tach & HEI ?

I'm going to retro a Camaro Tach to my dash, and am asking how to wire it up. Does one lead on the back of the tach. go to the HEI plug, where it says "Tach". Does the other wire on the back of the tach go to ground?

thanks.....

I'm not totally sure about the camaro tachs, but the factor one's for our trucks is one side is + or power and the other is the tach lead from the dizzy.the tach shoulld pick up it's ground thru the gauge cluster, anybody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I'm right. Randy

Randy has it correct. The tach lead goes to the tach pickup on the HEI. the other goes to +12V when you turn on the ignition switch so pick it up off the fuse box. Ground comes from the dash cluster metal frame. Huck
