Seeing Red!
I am looking for that perfect color and I thought I would ask for your opinions. I am going for the show hot rod look on my 71 step. The frame will be painted along with fender wells etc the same color.
I am looking for something in red. Bright, not a dull look, but not super common either. I like the Dodge truck red but I can't paint my truck with anything "Dodge" the GM red is not quite as bright as I am thinking I would like. Is it still named Summit Red? What about Corvette Red? Anyone seen one of our trucks with that set-up? Any help with pics would be greatly appreciated as I need to order my paint soon. ------------------ 2001 GMC 2500HD Crew Cab Duramax, Allison, 4WD, Love it 1971 Chevrolet 1/2 ton 2WD Short/Step Side. High gloss Crimson Red. AKA Blood Red. That is the upholstery, and accessory color I am going with. Black Paint, and Crimson Red leather interior with black stitching, and crimson accents here and there in the interior.

Do the Dodge pickup red. It is very bright and look sweet. I painted mine in the Dodge blue and love it. Its not Dodge paint, its PPG or Dupont or whatever you use. I won't tell if you don't

The color paint you want is PPG's "HOT RED". My brother's father-in-law had a Deuce coupe painted that, and it is so bright and so red it almost hurts your eyes. My brother has pics but doesn't know how to put them up here. Trust me- This is the color you want!!

Thanks for the input. I will give the Viper red a closer look. LMN8R--you have peaked my curiousity about the "Hot Red". Is there any way you could e-mail me a picture if you can't post it?
I watched Hot Rod Magazine on the Speed channel last night and they covered the Detroit Auto Show. There was a red car that had the most beautiful red on. Well they interview the guy and it turns out it was a special mix! That didn't help me any! ------------------ 2001 GMC 2500HD Crew Cab Duramax, Allison, 4WD, Love it 1971 Chevrolet 1/2 ton 2WD Short/Step Side. In process of frame off restoration

For the purest red, go to a PPG paint store and ask to see Deltron toner DMD-654. It's RED!! It can be cut with basecoat clear, and then clearcoated when applied to your truck. Sikkens also has a red toner that's pretty close. My dad has a '34 Chevy coupe that's Sikkens toner red over their yellow/cream sealer coat, and the car darn near glows. If you want to polish it out in bright sunlight, you've gotta wear sunglasses or it'll blind you!

Had pictures untill photo point went T#TS up. They want $35 to send me a CD with only 20 pictures on it. I posted them about a year ago, I will try and get ahold of another camera and download them to Free Photo.
Is there any way to go back that far to find a post? |

1971Stepside, I'll have my brother e-mail you the pics of the coupe. I don't know how the color will look after being emailed, but if you go to a paint store, they should have a chip for it. Good Luck, whatever shade of red you decide on, I'm sure it will be Gorgeous!
