I just thought to share this. I did my exhaust last weekend. Today I just put the tips. The only thing I don't like that much, is the fact that it seat below the frame rail a little otherwise look pretty good to me.

Tell me, could the upsweep pipes that go up to the manifolds be shortened effectively raising the assembly??
Also what manifolds are on the engine? Is it the 350 or 400 style cast iron? or the rams horn cast iron?? Some pics on that end would be great! Do the tubes all clamp together or do they weld together?? I guess if they clamp it would be your choice to weld later or not. Do they seem heavy gage wall thickness? What diameter are they? i've been looking at lmc's kit too... did you get the glasspacks or the turbos ??.. and how do they sound ???. seems like a great deal for an exhaust kit .. what were your thoughts, possible disappointments about the kit ..

I just put the LMC kit on my K10 with the glass pacs.....I am very happy with it....(no offense to Nima but mine is completely within the frame)....2 1/4" pipe out the back behind the wheels....aluminized pipe....I will try and take some pics tomorrow....I went to my local exhaust place and they wanted $700 for Flomasters out the back....if figured if I dont like the glass pacs I will replace with flo masters and still be ahead of the game as my unit with glass pacs was less than $200....my only complaint was the tail pipes fall a little short and may require an extension for the look I want....Pipes seem to be nice heavy gauge also.....Thanks....Paul K
PS I like the sound....doesnt sound like every car/truck you see nowadays with a Flo Master Cat back system on it. |

Sorry guys, I was off line. To answer the questions;
- actually I am very happy with quality, They are 21/4 in diameter, I have 350 with cast iron ram horn (I'll take some pics tomorrow, my lighting in garage sucks!). I believe you can cut the tube and weld it to bring it higher. I was not that concern about being a little low since my truck is not lowered although I prefer to be higher too. This was my first exhaut job ever and I don't have welding equipment (if I had I wouldn't know how to use it! unless one of you guys teach me). I just used clamps which was included in the kit. The other member is right, the only problem was that the tail pipe was sitting awkward. What I did, I got set of flexible pipes from autozone and corrected that angle and lenght with them. Mufflers are turbo. They are cheap ones, sound is not bad, not too loud. I prefer them to glass pack (my age!). The cost of the kit was 180$ to my door, the extra was for the flexible pipes and clamps and tips. Any more question? I hope this helps. |

Nima, looks nice, just personal preference, but I'd also prefer that they not hang below the frame rail.

Well, I have to say that I like the fact that yours is tucked in but (since this was my first job) how else could I connect the flange to manifold?! It is just strait down pipe. The only way for me was to cut it and weld it which I was trying to avoid. Is it possible that they diferent lenght?

they probably are for 4x4 and 2wd,i think the manifolds are differnet as well,but not sure,4x4's have that silly t-case to get around,and the 2wd dose not

Nima....I am sure the 2wd and the 4X4 are different systems but in looking at your pics is it possible that you have left and right sides mixed up somewhere....looks like the system should shoot in towards the driveshaft and run along the drive shaft up closer to the floor....It is hard to tell in pictures.....Paul K

Well, I guess when do anything for the first time, you may mess up but I don't think so. By looking at Knsmodels pics the only difference is , I hooked up the 2nd section differently. I routed everything before I hooked up anything. To be able to get the mufflers in right place I had to do it this way, at least I thought so!, but that wouldn't change how low the first section hanging. I quess I can take another look at it tomorrow, hopefully that keeps me away from my wife for a while and decreases the chances for arguements!.

Will those fit headers or do you have to have stock manifolds? I have manifolds but plan to used headers when I get a crate engine, but for now I need to replace the pipes they are full of holes.

They don't fit headers, even the don't fit mnifold with straight down pipe. This is what is said in their catalog, unfortunately their customer sevice was not that helpful when I had a question about their muflers. If you are thinking about headers, I believe summit and/or jeg's sell the whole kit:headers ad pipes together.

KNSMODELS, Your picture spur some questions I have had for some time now.
Did you modify the LMC pipes to hook up to your rams horn style manifolds ( I am assuming the rams horn dump on center on both sides) ? Also is that the factory Transfercase ( 205) for the 72 truck? Is the color green on your truck what chevy called medium green? O r is it a different color? I am also interested in a full shot of your truck to see the mirrors you use. Thank you, Wolfthing |

Nima, did the LMC system come in HeartThrob Exhaust packaging? I think that is the company that supplies LMC with those exhaust systems. Heartthrob has a downloadable catalog that lists the same dual exhaust systems as LMC down to the turbo muffs or glasspacks. I think JCWhitney also sells the HearthThrob systems by that brand name.
I'm looking into having them make me a custom, mandrel-bent, single exhaust system, though I'll supply the muffler. Their site says they can work off any example shipped to them to make a mandrel-bent system in return. As a cheaper alternative, I may source one of their dual systems without muffs direct from HeartThrob so I can use my prefered mufflers (SpinTech, what else?) and save shipping weight. But, I bet LMC sells it all cheaper because they make volume buys. Anyway, more research to do.

No, there was not written anything about heartthrob on the packaging. It was something else, I think I save the name if I find it I'll let you know.

Wolf.......the pic in my avitar shows the mirrors....Check out my hello in the Welcome section for better pics.....the pics are on my other computer or I would repost them.....Yes, the color is what Chevy called Medium Green....it will also have the pinstripe down the side as it did originally.....I ordered the Exhaust for a 4X4 and it was automatically for the ramshorn manifolds...I think all 4X4's had them....As far as I know the Truck has its original drivetrain still in it so I have to assume the transfer case is correct but someone else may know better than me.....I bought the truck with 72000 original and it was untouched to my knowledge.....feel free to ask for anymore info I can help with.....Paul K
