Wink A new guy saying hey!

Hey all! I’m new here but not new to old chevies. If ya’ll don’t mind, I’ll stop in some and try to pick up a few tips for a recent project as well as show ya’ll what I’m up to. I picked up this 67 GMC a couple of weeks ago. It had been sitting in the weeds on my neighbors ranch since 1987 with the V 6 disassembled in the bed. The only option it has is power brakes, a th400, and a 10-bolt possi.

The green stuff all over the engine compartment is tree moss and mold.
Last weekend I gave it a bath and borrowed the EFI 350 and front suspension from an 88 sub I have lying around.

http://www.gvtc.com/~rlaa/truck/parts4.jpg

Getting that front end off was a pain with all the rusty bolts.

http://www.gvtc.com/~rlaa/truck/nomet2.jpg

I was surprised just how little the frame and cross member had changed in 20 years. The complete cross member slid in place very easily.

http://www.gvtc.com/~rlaa/truck/88in2.jpg
http://www.gvtc.com/~rlaa/truck/88in3.jpg

10 of the 14 cross member bolt holes lined up with two being a half a hole off and the other being about an inch difference.

http://www.gvtc.com/~rlaa/truck/framefit3.jpg

Every thing else bolted up in the original locations perfect except for the power steering box. I had to trim a corner off of the radiator support mount with the hot wrench and the grinder.

http://www.gvtc.com/~rlaa/truck/psbox2.jpg

Well that’s all I’ve had time to do in the past two weeks but I’ve still got part of tomorrow to do a little more.

Hey thanks! Hmmm those cruse parts are hard to come by. I’d been looking for them for years for my 67 ss Camaro convertible. I snagged a complete setup for a 68 pickup that’s identical to the 67 Camaro just a few months ago from epay.

Rwgregory: Yepper, I have it. I don’t think the cap was on it all those years but it still turns. You can have it for postage. And if anyone needs the suspension free, bring a truck, I’ll load it up for you. I found a use for the v 6 block for a while.
