Dream truck,or nightmare
First let me say Hi. Im new here but have already found tons of useful info and am very glad to be here. My dad bought a 70 C10 new and has had it ever since. I drove the truck all through high school. Its been setting up for the last 3 years and has rusted more than I was hoping it had. Anyway last week he gave me the truck and ive been looking at what its going to take to get the thing back the way I want it. Its going to need alot of new metal. The part that concerns me the most is that the rain gutter is rusted through pretty much all the way around and I have yet to find a roof skin in any of the aftermarket sites or catalogs. Im thinking about looking for a AC cab anyway but just in case I have to use this one or cant find one in better shape, what are my options? Anyone know where I might can find a weld in cab top? Thanks

Welcome to the board from Kansas. Lots of great people with a wealth of knowldege about these trucks. I don't think anyone makes a replacment cab top. I would look for that AC cab and switch them if I were you. Post the question on the parts bd...I'm sure somebody has one for sale. Good luck with your truck.

Depending on the condition of the rest of the cab, it might be more economical to cut your losses and try to find a cab that is ready to go. They pop up on here every now and then and while they don't come cheap initially, they will end up saving you money in the long run. JMO........................Jerry

Yeah im afraid there wont be much left to weld the new gutters too. I guess ill start looking hard for a cab but I would rather have started with new metal. I know how hard it is to permanantly get rid of rust and would rather start out with brand new metal (planning on ALL new pieces). Thanks for all the input. Im sure ill be asking for alot more before its overwith.

Welcome and good luck with your one-owner. I'd replace the cab if the rust is as bad as you state.
